wpba02fb83.pngWelcome to the 135th Annual Penistone Show, which will be held on the Show Field / Recreation Ground in Penistone South Yorkshire. Penistone is a market town located in the heart of the Pennines and has long standing traditions, the Annual Agricultural Show being one of them.

There is a large free car park adjacent to the Show Field, and from the main entrance the bus station is 100 metres and the train station is 200 metres. There are regular bus services to / from Barnsley, Sheffield, Huddersfield, Stocksbridge  (see Travel South Yorkshire for time tables). Also there are regular trains from / to Sheffield, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Leeds, Manchester (see Northern Rail for towns serviced and time tables). By road, the Showground is only 15 minutes from the M1, 10 minutes from the A628 Woodhead pass and 30 minutes from Huddersfield.

The aims of Penistone Show are to provide an agricultural show, which promotes the countryside, agriculture & horticulture and associated interests. There are various livestock on display i.e. Cattle, Sheep, Pigs, Goats, Pigeons, Hens, Bantams, Shire Horses, Lurchers, Terriers, Companion Dogs and many more. There are exhibitions and displays including Vintage vehicles, Owls, Farriers, Dry Stone Walling, Hounds, Handicrafts, Horticulture, Photogaphy etc. Also promoted is the local farmers market where you can buy fresh produce direct from the growers, Butchers, Bakers, Cake makers, Jam Makers. The list is endless.

There are Livestock and equestrian competition classes, there is a 10K road race, organised by the Penistone Footpath Runners Club (download an entry form from their site) and a Tug O War  competition. Trade stands vary from farm machinery and Implements to commercial enterprises selling country clothing, garden plants, furniture, cars and country crafts, etc.   

There are 3 rings providing entertainment throughout the day, and there are food outlets to keep you going and a fully licensed bar. You can become a member and dine in the large members marquee with views to both the main rings, or you could sit in the members area watching the entertainment in the main rings while enjoying a drink from the bar. There is privilege parking in the members only car park.

Live music is played at various times through the day. There are Jazz Bands, Brass Bands, Ladies Choirs, as well as music from a local radio stations Road Show. There is an excellent programme of events to keep you entertained throughout the day.
