Penistone Show
Saturday 11th September 2010
Goat Keeping has had its ups and downs in the last few years. Goats milk and cheese are highly popular, but diseases like foot and mouth and blue tongue have restricted animal movements and discouraged smaller producers. What's more regulations have stopped sales of milk at the farm gate unless produced from a separate dairy built to a regulated standard
All exhibits must be registered with the British Goat Society as in the ownership and the name of the exhibitor, the registered name, number and earmark, together with the date of birth and kidding date for goats milk being quoted on the entry form. All goats in milk must have kidded a minimum of 30 days before the show. All kids to be a minimum of 2 months old on the day of the show.
Note: New format to the showing of the milkers, please milk your goats out before coming to the show. Goatlings and kids will be shown first. No branches to be fed at the show.
Covered accommodation is provided free of charge WATER AND A LIMITED AMOUNT OF STRAW will also be provided.
