Homecraft

May I introduce myself? I am Kath Goldthorpe, I am the Homecraft Section Secretary for Penistone Show. I have been closely involved with shows for over twenty years with my Appaloosa horses that are now retired. I am keen to stay involved with show traditions so I decided to join the committee members of Penistone Show. On show day I am great fully assisted by my daughter Tanya.

In this section you will find homebaked, homecooked and homemade - jams, marmalade, chutneys, cakes, bread, honey, wines, the list is endless. Last year we also introduced a small confectionary section with the hope that people in the Penistone area where interested in sweet making. This proved to be a great success and we may even extend the section in later years.

We have found that the children’s classes are always popular so we have upped the number of classes in each age section and also introduced a special junior award in the Confectionary section.

Barnsley Bee Keepers Association are once again attending the show in the Honey section with their live observation hive and beekeepers equipment. They are looking forward to meeting the public and answering any questions (so do come along and see the bees).

Altought the Bee Keepers Association are in attendance we have found there has been a decline in exhibits in the honey sections over the years (so if you have any honey to show please do not hesitate to bring it along).

We feel privileged as always to have a member of The National Guild Of Wine And Beer Judges judging our popular wine and beer section.

If you have any questions regarding Homecraft please feel free to give me a call. We wish all our exhibiters the best of luck and we look forward to seeing you all on show day.
