Poultry and Pigeon Section

Falling as it does in September, Penistone clashes with a big rare breeds show at Melton Mowbray, which sometimes means we struggle for entries. Nonetheless we do draw exhibitors from a fairly wide area ranging from North Yorkshire down to Leicester, and across to the East Coast, Lancashire and Cheshire. Indeed last years Show Champion was from Loughborough and we can often boast some of the country's top exhibitors. 

We currently have Panel A judges, and with a good number of entries we are looking forward to a great show.

The Show would like to welcome their new poultry secretary Hayley Nicholson, this is Hayley's first year as the Poultry and Pigeon Secretary, however it is not Hayley's first year at the show, as she has been showing poultry since she was 13. She has a very keen interest in poultry and is very knowledgeable. Visit the poultry marquee and she will make you very welcome and will endeavour to answer your questions however insane you think they might be.

Hayley has introduced new classes for 2009 including  Duck egg classes and Junior handler classes, which also includes testing the knowledge of the handler. The handler can collect extra points for their ability in handling and knowledge of the breed. A selection of new rosettes have also been introduced
