Penistone Show
Saturday 11th September 2010
The show is proud of its display of vintage vehicles, which is expertly co-ordinated by Neil Whitmore who has run this section since its beginnings over 20 years ago.
Neil is a lifetime mechanic who himself owns two Albion lorries from 1938 and 1954, decked out in the livery of two lost Penistone industries - Penistone Pure Malt vinegar and William Gittus, a manufacturer of railway wagons.
The vehicles and machines here today may for some be no more than curiosities. But for many they are a link to a past that at times can seem like a dream. The old tractors that t were used to drive binders and threshing machines just like their predecessors the steam traction engines. The old trucks that were sign written by hand some using gold leaf The old British motorbikes that had their own particular distinctive shapes and noises.
Everything on display in this section is Pre 1960
