The Employment and Support Allowance is a UK allowance that is administered by the Department for Work and Pensions. It is abbreviated to DWP ESA or simply ESA. Unfortunately, there is limited support outside of the helpline, but there is some.

Rather than contact the helpline direct, you can use the services of your local Job Centre Plus office. This can be a really good way to find out more about the benefit without having to call the helpline. Contact ESA via the Job Centre Plus does allow you to apply for the benefit in the Job Centre Plus office. You will be given an appointment with a Job Centre Plus advisor who will complete the application for you and then send your application off to the benefit team. Furthermore, you are then able to ask for the email address of the Job Centre Plus advisor that you are dealing with. You will be able to email them and ask for updates regarding your application for the benefit. This could be a more convenient method of applying for the benefit rather than contact ESA via the telephone number.

The benefit can therefore be applied for via the helpful telephone helpline or via local Job Centre plus services. Unfortunately there is currently not any other way that you can chase the progress of your application for the benefit or raise a complaint. However, the services that are available to you do work well and you will get answers to your query or complaint using the methods above.
